Artist Teacher Scheme
Tate works with various universities to offer a number of courses as part of the Artist Teacher Scheme. These activities are designed to encourage teachers to re-engage with or develop their own practical work and critical practice.
The Artist Teacher Scheme is administered and co-ordinated by the National Society for Education in Art and Design (NSEAD) and financially supported by Arts Council England.
Tate Modern Continued Professional Development
Our programme of continued professional development for teachers is designed to support teachers to engage with contemporary art practices and the Collection both in the gallery and in the classroom. Participants are also encouraged to use the sessions as an inspiration or starting point for planning a gallery visit.
Courses are devised and led by practising artists who are also experienced in working in educational settings such as universities, gallery education departments and schools. Each course is unique as artists draw on their individual practice, interests and experience. A study day may include working with the Collection, contemporary practices, web based resources, practical activities, creating work and practice sharing with colleagues.
Summer Institute 2012
We apologise that the Summer Institute will not take place in 2012, due to a clash with the opening of the Olympic Games, but will resume in 2013. You may be interested in trying out Easter School instead, which will become a regular fixture in our programme.
