Without Walls

Wednesday 10 March 2010, 10.30–16.00

This course is for teachers and staff working with students with special educational needs (SEN), focusing particularly on physical, cognitive or sensory difficulties. An artist specialising in SEN within the gallery context leads the session. It challenges preconceptions about the nature and potential of art to encourage new perspectives. Participants explore practical activities designed to encourage students to formulate a personal response to the art on show.

This course offers:

  • Appropriate creative, practical and educational strategies to meet the learning needs of individuals and promote confidence
  • Methods for active engagement with the building and the Collection as a resource for teaching and learning
  • The use of a diverse range of materials and techniques designed to enable young people to engage with art and explore ideas.
