Contemporary Art in the Classroom

Tuesday 10 November 2009, 16.00–18.00

TATE MODERN  FOR ALL LEVELS

This course looks at how to make the most of your gallery visit by exploring practical ways to use contemporary art at school. It encourages teachers to creatively reinvent the way that classroom and school resources can be used to unpick themes current in contemporary practice.

The course offers:

  • An expanded understanding of contemporary art including socially engaged practice, new technologies and live art
  • Possibilities for introducing themes and ideas through practical application across the school building itself
  • Playful activities for interpreting art work in reproduction
  • Creative methods of exploring how context and placement affects our understanding of art works.
