Postcards and Interventions: Activity 1
Selecting images for postcards / generating ideas for interventions at the Gallery Go to Landscape suite (or gallery space). Organise pupils into groups- 4 at a time with a digital camera and a teacher selecting objects to be recorded for postcard images. The rest of pupils can stay together in the gallery space generating ideas using the worksheet, pinpointing exact locations of potential interventions on maps, and drawing diagrams of ideas in their journals. Reconvene once all pupils have had a chance to record an overlooked object and have generated some ideas. Prepare students for each activity (which will be based in the gallery) by re-capping and going over significant issues. Feedback and discuss: any ideas. This is particularly important as it allows pupils to see how each other are thinking, and may stimulate more ideas. Encourage the pupils to be critical of each others' ideas. Where ideas are 'impossible', discuss ways of adapting them to make them possible. Make clear that these will need to be developed over the coming weeks. Resources
