The Overlooked at School: Activity 1

>Introduction
>Activity 1: Looking at the Overlooked at School
>Activity 2: Interventions at School

Organise students into pairs, send pairs off to record interesting, strange and 'overlooked' aspects of school site in preparation for making interventions later. Pin point locations on a map. Reconvene.

Discuss: Discuss the possibility for the exchange and interchangeability of objects - what do they both have which could be swapped or re-placed, so as to heighten awareness to the design/atmosphere/experience of one or the other? For example, which would be more strange or effective...a school chair in Tate, or a Tate chair at school? Why? We felt that it would be more effective to put a school chair in Tate, partly becauseTate is an art gallery and therefore objects are often there to be looked at rather than used, but also because Tate is newer, more 'designed' and controlled whereas school has evolved over a longer period with more of a range of styles of objects.
