Context: Tate Modern: Activity 2

>Introduction
>Activity 1: Surrealism in the Salon
>Activity 2: Art and Display
>Activity 3: The Gallery Environment

Look at an object, elicit its function and our attitude towards it. Then place in a perspex box (or on a plinth / in a frame) and discuss if our reaction or perception of the object has changed, even momentarily. When does an object look like / not look like art? What does a frame, or plinth, or box do to the object? Does it transform it?

Extend and apply this thinking about context to present surroundings in the Gallery/Museum
