Read transcriptIn the Seagram Murals, Mark Rothko gives traditional oil painting technique a modern twist. The nine paintings chosen by Rothko to hang in a homogenous group at the Tate, reveal their painterly qualities slowly as our eyes grow accustomed to the dim light favoured by the artist for the display of his deep red black and maroon canvases.
