Make a Collage
Britain from the North, Tony Cragg
Tony Cragg has collected colourful objects from the streets and rubbish dumps of West London to make this art work. Can you recognize any of the objects he has used?
The objects have been arranged in a special way to make a picture with two shapes. One of the shapes is the artist himself. What is the other shape? (You may have to tilt your head to the left to see it properly).
Use Tony Cragg’s idea of making a picture from coloured objects to make your own collage. For this activity you will need a magazine, glue, scissors, a pencil, and paper.
Top tips!
- Draw yourself on the paper in pencil. You could do your whole body or just your face.
- Use the magazine to find lots of picture of different objects. Make sure they are small. Cut them out and glue them into your outline.
- You could try making your portrait out of different shoes or food – things that reflect your personality.
