Please note that although all new content is compatible for the browsers listed below, older sections archived on Tate Online have not been optimised for the latest browsers and versions.

Plugins and Media Formats

Interactive content

Most interactive content on Tate Online is in Flash format. In order to make use of Flash content please download the latest version of the Flash plugin.

Some interactive content is in QuickTime format, requiring the QuickTime plugin. In order to make use of QuickTime content please download the latest version of QuickTime.

Tate Online has HTML alternatives to Flash and QuickTime content are provided where appropriate.

Audio and Video

Most video content is in Flash format (see above).

Audio content is available in either Flash format (see above) or MP3 format. MP3 files can be downloaded and played either with free MP3 software or on an MP3 player.

Text transcripts are provided whenever possible.

PDF

Some documents on the website are available as PDF files. PDF files can be opened with free Adobe Reader software.

JavaScript

JavaScript is often used for interactive features on Tate Online. Although it is not necessary to have JavaScript enabled in order to use the site, we recommended having JavaScript enabled to make full use of Tate Online.
