Graham Naiken is a storyteller who has been working within education since graduating from Dartington College of Arts in 1999.
He focuses on creating journeys which are interactive, fun and educational. The central tenet of his practice is that storytelling is a kind of universal language, essential for effective learning. Graham has performed in contexts as diverse as fire ceremonies, churches, art festivals, community centres, schools, libraries, the Eden Project, and the Southbank Centre.
Graham facilitates one of Tate Britain's learning workshops, Speaking Pictures, which looks at ways of drawing out stories from within the gallery's displays. He has led many story and drama based workshops in various London schools for both students and teachers.
"VerbalEyes was a great chance to collaborate with another practitioner inspired by the Tate Collection and allowing interpretation to be led by students. Giving opportunities for students to locate and identify their own stories and to explore ways of debating, shaping and presenting their stories in performance. The project has been a great learning experience from all sides and the student's journeys, individually and collectively, has been a joyous progression!" Graham Naiken, Storyteller
