Car parking and drop-off

There are three parking bays for blue badge holders on Atterbury Street, by a dropped kerb, and two at the Millbank Entrance.  There are also accessible car parking spaces near the North Entrance on John Islip Street, which must be booked in advance.  To book a parking space email ticketing@tate.org.uk or call 020 7887 8888, Monday – Friday 10.00 – 17.00. Please give at least 24 hours’ notice.

Pay and Display parking operates in the streets immediately around the gallery. Parking is free after 18.30 and throughout weekends.

If arriving by taxi or Dial-a-Ride, for level access the driver can drop you at the Manton Entrance on Atterbury Street or the North Entrance on John Islip Street.

Entrances to the gallery

There are four entrances to Tate Britain:

  1. The Manton Entrance is on Atterbury Street on Level 1 and can be reached by ramp or steps down, with central handrails. There are automatic sliding doors for level entry.  Access to the main gallery areas on Level 2 is by lift or stairs.
  2. The entrance on Millbank on Level 2 is reached by a flight of 18 unmarked steps. This is followed by two wider marked steps. There are handrails at the edge of the main flight of steps. There is a revolving door flanked by two side doors at the top.
  3. The Clore Gallery entrance at Level 1 is to the right of the main gallery on Millbank. It has level access to the Auditorium and a lift to the main gallery areas on Level 2.
  4. The North Entrance on John Islip Street at the back of the gallery has ramp access and parking for disabled visitors which must be booked in advance.

Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs are available to book in advance, or ask a member of staff on arrival.  To book, email ticketing@tate.org.uk or call 020 7887 8888, Monday – Friday 10.00–17.00.

Guide Dogs

Tate Britain welcomes guide dogs and hearing dogs.

Concessionary Tickets and Carers' Entry

There is a concessionary rate for all visitors with a disability, for entry to ticketed exhibitions.  Carers’ entrance is free. Concessionary rates vary and are listed on the individual exhibitions' ticketing pages.

Seating

There are seats and benches in reading areas near the Rotunda and Clore foyer area on Level 1, as well as in a number of galleries. Folding seats are also available from the cupboard near the Rotunda by Studio 2.  Please ask a member of staff or at the Information desks.

Telephones

Card and cash pay phones accessible to wheelchair users are situated near the cloakroom on Level 1. They are equipped with volume control and inductive couplers. The staff at the Information Desks will call Dial-a-Ride service for visitors.

Toilets and Cloakrooms

There is a free Cloakroom on Level 1 between the Manton Entrance and the Café, reached via ramp or steps. Accessible toilets are located here and in the foyer of the Clore Gallery.

Levels and Lifts

From the Manton Entrance there is level access to the Linbury Galleries, the Hyman Kreitman Research Centre, Restaurant, Café, telephone and toilets. 

There is a large lift to the main gallery areas on Level 2, located to the left side of the Manton Information desk, and a small lift near the Café and Restaurant. 

From the Clore Gallery Entrance there is level access to the auditorium, toilets and baby care room.  There is a lift to the gallery areas on Level 2 and Level 3.

All lifts have lift announcements indicating floor levels.

Café and Restaurant;

The Café and Restaurant are situated on Level 1.  Both are accessible for wheelchair users.

The Café is self-service; however, Café staff are very happy to help if you need assistance.

The Restaurant is waiter-service. Reservations can be made on 020 7887 8825.

Baby Care Room

The Baby chaning facilities are available in toilets on Level 1.
