Strange Creatures 2006 and Shipwreck 2006

Two Year 3 classes worked with writer Katherine May and artist Sarah Carne. Chusan class created weird and wonderful creatures and produced a shadow puppet film. They responded to works such as Francesco Zuccarelli’s A Landscape with the Story of Cadmus Killing the Dragon 1765.

Durban class created story books and sea shanty verses based on a sea-voyage to a strange new land. Their story books examined the problems they might face when trying to communicate with the people they met there. To help solve this, they created punctuation characters inspired by Alexander Calder’s Standing Mobile 1937.
