Live Works: Daria Martin

Daria Martin and Zeena Parkins: Regeneration
Sunday 2 April 2006, 21.00–22.00
Tate Modern, Turbine Hall Bridge

Daria Martin will collaborate with electronic harpist Zeena Parkins to create a new live work staged as a cross-site collaboration at Tate Modern. Martin has designed a rudimentary screen structure which frames the sculptural presence of Parkins, displays images from her recent film Loneliness and the Modern Pentathlon as well as captures shadows cast by coloured lights.

This work uses frank and low-tech materials to refer to the early theatre productions of Russian Constructivists such as Alexandra Exter. Martin‘s work looks back to art history. She uses contemporary performance to traverse disciplines and offer the viewer an all-encompassing, total artwork.
