This major installation incorporates a vastly expanded sculptural language. One of Caro's most personal works, it is a sustained, emotive indictment of man's cruelty. His subject is the world as it is now, a human catastrophe of unbelievable and indefensible suffering. Nothing is specified, but the references are all too familiar: images ingrained from news footage of war, ethnic cleansing and devastation.

"[The Last Judgement].renders human injustice and frailty in scraps of clay, wood and steel. light streams down upon Caro's door ajar into infinity and bells toll in the distance.
