Up to the 1850s, London's squares and streets, print shops and pleasure gardens were the arena for consuming the arts. Mark Hallett, co-curator of Hogarth, explores William Hogarth’s career against the changing city and the emergence of new theatrical spaces in which artists such as Hogarth performed and presented their work.
