In Lost Mine 1959, Peter Lanyon tried to give new meaning to landscape painting. Next to expressing the experience of being in a place, he also wanted to portray its historical past and symbolic value. This fifteen-minute talk reveals more about this painting, which was inspired by flooded tin mines in Cornwall, where many lives were lost.
