Michael Taussig
I Swear I Saw This
Since his first book, The Devil and Commodity Fetishism in Latin America, in 1980, Michael Taussig has set about transforming anthropology into a critical reflection on Western societies, via an increasingly radical combination of fieldwork and ‘ficto-criticism’. This talk will examine the status of drawings in anthropological fieldwork notebooks as ‘art’ and ‘politics’. Michael Taussig is Professor of Anthropology, Columbia University, New York.
