Group sizes for self-led visits
You are welcome to visit independently with your school group, but you must book ahead and meet all the requirements listed below.
A maximum of 120 pupils from one school may visit at a time. NB To avoid overcrowding there is also a limit on the number of group visits per day.
Supervision
Adult supervision is required at all times – accompanying adults are always responsible for students. Please meet the following adult to student ratios:
Age under 5 1:5
Age 6–11 1:10
Age 12–16 1:15
Over 16 1:20
Tate Britain teachers resources can be used on a self-led visit.
For inspiration or a starting point for planning a gallery visit take part in a teacher course.
