The Contemporary Banquet

Friday 6 October 2006, 18.30–22.00

Event florist Gail Smith will be working with Turnips of Borough Market to create an installation in Gallery 9 drawing on the Holbein in England exhibition for inspiration. This unique installation celebrates the turn of the season with amazing flora, fauna and the best of British produce.

The kitchens of Tudor England relied on seasonal produce and the use of herbs and spices to deliver banquets. We are currently experiencing a renaissance in seasonal food with the growth of local farmers markets, organic produce available at supermarkets, and institutions such as Borough Market.

Please note: The food in this display is not for public consumption. Visitors can purchase food from the hog roast stationed at all drinks points.

Supported by Gordon's® Sloe gin.
