The lives of the residents of the Yacoubian Building in Cairo are the subject of this ground-breaking film. Their stories expose previously unseen and taboo aspects of modern Egyptian society, including corruption, forbidden love, fundamentalism and homosexuality. Home to both the well-off and the poor, the building is a metaphor for contemporary Egypt.
