Word and Image
A Picture of Britain Creative Writing Workshop

Saturday 25 June 2005, 10.30–16.30
Sunday 26 June 2005, 10.30–16.30

Writers and poets, from the Brontë sisters to Seamus Heaney, have long sought inspiration in the British landscape. The exhibition A Picture of Britain explores six regions through the eyes of major artists, from JMW Turner to Barbara Hepworth. Led by Robert Minhinnick, this creative writing workshop engages with the literary and visual landscape exploring key themes from regional identity to ecology. Combining practical work with discussion, this workshop uses the real and imagined landscape as a springboard for creative writing. Robert Minhinnick is the editor of Poetry Wales and founder of Friends of the Earth Cymru (Wales) and a widely published poet and author whose most recent collection of essays was Badlands (Seren, 1996).
