Delivered by gallery professionals and based in Tate, this short course reviews the importance of interpretation, audience awareness and learning in museums and galleries.

Using focused workshops, research activities, discussion and debate, the course will explore the similarities and differences between education, interpretation, communication and information, the importance of research in cultural institutions, media awareness and marketing.

It will also examine how an organisation like Tate has worked to create an entrepreneurial culture which is both financially successful while retaining the integrity of Tate's core values and philosophy.

The programme will be offered in evenings in September and October and has been designed to suit working professionals, artists, curators, teachers and those interested in the structure and philosophy of the modern museum.

Confirmed speakers include Will Gompertz (Director, Tate Media), Jo Matthews (Head of Licensing, Tate), Celia Clear (Chief Executive, Tate Enterprises) and Dr. Victoria Walsh (Head of Adult Programmes, Tate Britain).

In collaboration with Institute of Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship, Goldsmiths, University of London
