The drawing continues across folio 5 recto opposite (D14496). Finberg subsequently annotated his 1909 Inventory entry (‘View from Riva degli Schiavone’) to read: ‘Schiavoni’.1 In another copy he did the same and added: ‘S. Giorgio Sal & Dog. Mola. [sic] Camp. & Doge’s Pal.’2 The Turner scholar C.F. Bell wrote in another copy: ‘San Giorgio l. Hotel Danieli r.’3
This is a less detailed reprise of the view on folios 3 verso–4 recto (D14493–D14494), looking east from the Riva degli Schiavoni, this time focusing on shipping in the foreground. The slightly smaller scale allows for the inclusion on the left of this page of the campanile and dome of the church of San Giorgio Maggiore across the Bacino to the south, leaving the wide prospect between there and the domes of Santa Maria della Salute to the west truncated; the single dome between probably signifies the Redentore as on the previous spread, but the Zitelle would come between there and San Giorgio.
