The work is mounted with the album page turned vertically. It was copied from the drawing by John Robert Cozens (1752–1797), executed for Richard Payne Knight and now in the British Museum, London (1900–4–11–30).1 Turner was to make spectacular watercolours of the Reichenbach after his own journey to Switzerland in 1802.2
