Continued from folio 16 verso (D25669) is a view of Newark Castle from across the Yarrow Water to the north. There is another sketch of Newark on folio 16 (D25668), and further sketches in the Abbotsford sketchbook (Tate D26066; Turner Bequest CCLXVII 79). In 1834 Turner returned to the castle, making sketches in the Edinburgh sketchbook (Tate D26167; Turner Bequest CCLXVIII 37a).
