Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
Turner circled the Lake of Albano and made sketches from several different points. His inscription ‘St Palazzi’ on this drawing refers to the monastery of Palazzola, an ancient abbey on the eastern rim, visible above the lake on the left
