Display caption

A view of Constable's own birthplace in East Bergholt. In the accompanying text Constable talks of the personal associations of the house, but also of East Bergholt's Saxon origins and its present prosperity. He suggests its fine houses and well-cultivated surroundings express the harmonious interaction of man and nature through the centuries.
