Chosen by John Batchelor - "This is a high quality Picasso and would grace any collection. It has a savage beauty that pins the spectator with it's explosive, primitive energy. I love the way that the two outer dancers create their own sense of abandoned movement around the more elegant and balanced central figure. And of course the brooding presence in the shadows giving the whole thing a demonic quality. Perhaps more importantly this painting was the first Picasso to strike my consciousness when I was a teenager. It's like an old friend; a rather dangerous friend but a friend nevertheless!"
