Tate Liverpool gets biggest boost yet for Capital of Culture plans
Press release: 18 March 2005
Tate Liverpool is delighted to announce the largest sponsorship package in its history. Leading international legal services organisation DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary (‘DLA Piper’) is to provide a four-year, £250,000 International Modern Art exhibition sponsorship. The DLA Piper Series will feature high profile displays from the Tate Collection from now until 2008. DLA Piper is also the first of Tate Liverpool’s Tate08 Partners, the only law firm in this elite group of supporters.
Nigel Knowles, joint Chief Executive Officer of DLA Piper, said: “By working together, business and the arts can create a richer society. This is our largest cultural sponsorship to date and it both acknowledges and supports the presence of world class contemporary art in Liverpool. I am looking forward to seeing our long standing relationship with Tate Liverpool deepen over the years to come.”
“Tate Liverpool is delighted to receive such a significant level of support from DLA Piper, our highest to date,” said Christoph Grunenberg, Director of Tate Liverpool. “The DLA Piper Series is the first European Capital of Culture sponsorship for Tate Liverpool, sending a strong signal of the increased ambitions of the Gallery to businesses in the city.”
“As we move towards 2008 it is vital that the private sector supports the city’s cultural infrastructure to make the European Capital of Culture a success. The partnership with DLA Piper enables Tate Liverpool to increase substantially the ambition and diversity of its exhibition and education programmes during this exciting period, benefiting the city of Liverpool and all who live and work in the area, as well as the tourism economy. We look forward to working closely with DLA Piper, to mutual benefit during this exciting time.”
Tate08 Partners is an elite group created to support the Gallery’s ambitions including key exhibition and family programme initiatives for European Capital of Culture. As part of a special relationship with the Gallery, we offer Tate08 Partners sector exclusivity and there are opportunities for business from several sectors to get involved.
